Give Kids A Smile Day

February 1, 2020

The American Dental Association began the Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) Day program in 2003 as a way for ADA members to join with others in the community to increase the public’s awareness about the importance of oral health for all children and, more important, to provide free dental services to underserved children in their community. This event is conducted across the country on the first Friday or Saturday of February each year.

TCDC participates in Give Kids A Smile Day by partnering with the UCLA School of Dentistry to conduct an event at our site. On this day, children 0-17 years of age receive:
• Oral health education
• A screening for a preliminary assessment of their oral health status
• An initial clinical appointment for examination, x-rays, prophy

If needed, children are also provided treatment that includes but is not limited to: sealants, fillings, stainless steel crowns, and pulpotomies. *Note that all treatment is done at the consent of the child.

All services provided at Give Kids A Smile Day are FREE, regardless of income level or insurance eligibility!

Because services offered this day are free-of-charge, The Toothfairy Cottage and The Smile Store are very busy! Besides UCLA’s School of Dentistry, we are always looking for incredible individuals whom can provide their services to make this day much more successful, such as:
• Hygienists
• Dentists
• Pedodontists
• Dental assistants
